Our contact lenses and glasses are small things that make an enormous difference. In this blog post, we'll share our top lens care tips to help you get the most out of your glasses and contact lenses. From practicing good contact lens safety to the correct way to clean and store glasses, we've got you covered.
It's important to practice good contact lens safety to avoid eye infections and other problems. Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly before handling your lenses. Avoid using tap water to clean your lenses, as it can contain harmful bacteria. Instead, use sterile saline solution or multipurpose solution. These solutions will clean and disinfect your lenses without causing damage.
When putting in or taking out your lenses, be careful not to touch any surfaces that could be contaminated with bacteria.
If you do happen to touch a surface, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly before handling your lenses again. It's also important to never reuse old solution—always use fresh solution each time you clean your lenses.
If you wear contact lenses, it's important to take steps to prevent eye infections. One of the best ways to do this is by cleaning and storing your lenses properly. You should also avoid wearing contact lenses for extended periods of time—try avoiding wearing your contact lenses longer than ten to twelve hours so that your eyes can breathe. While wearing contact lenses, minimize contact with water. Always remove your contact lenses before going to sleep, swimming, or taking a shower.
After inserting your contact lenses, rinse the contact lens case with fresh solution and leave the empty case open to air dry. Do not store the empty case while wet. Keep the contact lens case clean and replace it at least every three months. Never use water or saliva to clean or moisten contact lenses.
The “rub and rinse” method for extended wear contact lenses is considered by experts to be a superior method of cleaning. Rub your contact lens with your fingers or place the contact lens in the palm of your hand.
Contact solution bottles should be replaced at least every three months to minimize contamination. Avoid touching the outlet tip of the contact solution with your finger or eye lid.
Lastly, change out and dispose of your soft contact lenses as prescribed by your doctor. Do not over wear your contact lenses (do not wear a monthly lens for longer than one month, do not wear a daily lens for more than one day, etc.). It is also important to see your eye doctor for annual eye exams and contact lens fittings to replace your lenses and update your contact lens prescription as often as recommended.
It's important to clean your glasses regularly to remove dirt, oil, and debris that can build up on the lenses. The best way to clean your glasses is with a mild soap and water solution. Avoid using harsh chemicals or cleaners, as they can damage the lenses. Once you've cleaned your glasses, be sure to dry them with a soft, lint-free cloth.
You should also store your glasses in a safe place when you're not wearing them. A hard case is the best option, as it will protect your glasses from being scratched or damaged. If you don't have a case, you can store your glasses in a soft cloth bag. Just be sure not to leave them in direct sunlight or extreme heat, as this can damage the lenses.
