Houston Eye Associates is excited to welcome Jara Crear, M.D. to our outstanding group of physicians.
Dr. Jara Crear is a fellowship-trained general/comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric ophthalmology, pediatric strabismus, and adult strabismus.
She graduated from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Economics. Dr. Crear earned her Medical Doctorate at Brown University at the Warren Alpert Medical School. Her postdoctoral training includes an internship at The University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus, an ophthalmology residency at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, and her pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus fellowship at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center.
Dr. Crear has been honored as the Rabb Venable Excellence in Research Program Mentor with many memberships in professional societies that include the National Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) where she also serves as a mentor to medical students entering the eld of Ophthalmology. Her peer review has been published in the International Journal of Nanomedicine and her many remarkable presentations have been showcased at the Mulholland Mohler Meeting at the American College of Physicians in Baltimore, Maryland, the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center Alumni Research Symposium, and the ASOPRS Fall Symposium.
Dr. Crear’s patient philosophy is to genuinely provide attentive, personalized, quality care with special consideration for her patient’s background, resources, and individualized needs.
In Dr. Crear’s free time, she enjoys biking, running, spending time with family, and cooking creole cuisine. She is a former junior Olympic gymnast and collegiate pole vaulter and enjoys discussing all things related to sports and the outdoors.
