About Anam A. Mazharuddin, M.D.
Dr. Anam A. Mazharuddin is a native Houstonian. She graduated summa cum laude from Klein High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering from Rice University in Houston, Texas. She then went on to receive her Medical Doctorate from UT Health San Antonio and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, a national medical honor society. Dr. Mazharuddin completed an ophthalmology residency at UT Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and received the Silver Scalpel Award for Best Surgical Resident. She is excited to return home to Spring and care for the patients in the community she grew up in.
Dr. Mazharuddin is passionate about research and has published many articles in medical journals including Allergy & Rhinology, Annals of Biomedical Engineering, and Journal of Vitreoretinal Diseases. She has also presented her research at the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS), the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) where she was awarded Best Paper discussing the ocular side effects of Checkpoint Immunotherapy.
Dr. Mazharuddin is a board-certified ophthalmologist with special interests in cataract surgery, dry eyes, diabetes, glaucoma, cosmetics, LASIK and refractive surgery, and more. She is a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Houston Ophthalmology Society, Houston Ophthalmology Women, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Mazharuddin is fluent in Urdu and Spanish. She enjoys spending her free time visiting friends and family and exploring Houston’s culinary scene. She has a wonderful husband and son. She also loves to travel so be sure to ask her about her next adventure.
