About Charity H. Grannis, M.D.
Dr. Charity H. Grannis was born and raised in Houston. After graduating from the DeBakey High School for Health Professions as the salutatorian, she attended the University of Houston, graduating with the highest honors and a double major in Biology and Spanish. While at the University of Houston, she spent a year studying abroad at the University of Alicante in Spain immersing herself in the Spanish language and culture. She is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Grannis attended Baylor College of Medicine for her medical training, graduating with honors. After medical school, Dr. Grannis had the privilege of spending a year in The Methodist Hospital's Transitional Year residency program. She then moved to Dallas for the ophthalmology residency program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. After three years in Dallas, she returned to Houston to serve in the fellowship program in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital. Dr. Grannis was motivated to stay in Houston and work with the people in a city she loves, and she is pleased to practice ophthalmology at Houston Eye Associates.
Dr. Grannis is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Dr. Grannis has been active in ophthalmologic research and has presented at various national meetings. She also has a strong interest in international medical missions.
In her spare time, Dr. Grannis enjoys spending time with her kids, drawing, and staying active through biking and running.
