Dr. Zaman joined Houston Eye Associates to provide general eye care and additional services in the sub-specialties of glaucoma, cataract, and refractive (LASIK) surgery.
Originally from Atchison, Kansas, he consistently earned academic honors in high school, college, and medical school. He was valedictorian of his high school, graduated with honors while obtaining his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and was inducted into the national medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha while attending medical school at the same university. After earning his medical school degree, Dr. Zaman performed an internship in internal medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.
Lured by the warm weather of Texas, Dr. Zaman gladly discarded his snow shovel and signed on for his ophthalmology residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He continued his ophthalmology training by serving his fellowship in Glaucoma and Anterior Segment Diseases at Houston Eye Associates under the direction of Robert H. Stewart, M.D. Dr. Stewart is one of the founders of Houston Eye Associates.
Dr. Zaman's practice philosophy is very patient-oriented. He strives to help his patients feel comfortable with their exams by taking the time to answer their questions and explain their ophthalmic conditions. Dr. Zaman performs cutting-edge surgical methods for the treatment of glaucoma, cataracts, and LASIK. His glaucoma expertise includes traditional filtering surgeries (trabeculectomy and tube shunt), and newer minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries including Xen, Hydrus Micro Stent, iStent, goniotomy, and canaloplasty. His non-invasive glaucoma laser procedures include selective laser trabeculoplasty, peripheral iridotomy, and cyclophotocoagulation with Micropulse P3 laser .
Dr. Zaman's expertise in cataract surgery includes implantation of premium intraocular lenses and femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery which can reduce your dependency on glasses.
Dr. Zaman is also involved in clinical trials helping bring new methods of treatments for patients. Dr. Zaman is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is currently a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Zaman and his wife Yasmeen enjoy attending Houston Rockets' games.
