Dr. Haleh Ebrahimi is a dedicated optometrist, specializing in contact lenses, ocular disease, and pediatric optometry. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Miami before completing her Doctor of Optometry degree at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
During her undergraduate studies, Dr. Ebrahimi joined the research team at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute’s McKnight Vision Center. In this role, she contributed to research on Cochlin, a protein related to glaucoma. While attending Nova Southeastern University’s Optometry School, she also completed an externship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where she gained extensive experience in managing complex ocular pathologies.
After earning her Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Ebrahimi pursued an Optometric Residency in Ocular Disease at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She has contributed to the field through publications, including two significant posters: Post-Fix Chiasm Pituitary Lesion with Unilateral Temporal Hemianopsia and Time-Sensitive Cytomegalovirus Retinitis, which have garnered attention in the optometric community.
Dr. Ebrahimi spent five years at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) as an Associate Professor in the department of Ophthalmology, where she treated complex ocular diseases and taught ophthalmology residents about fitting contact lenses. In addition to her clinical practice, she developed a passion for teaching and mentoring future healthcare professionals.
With over thirteen years of clinical experience, Dr. Ebrahimi is highly skilled in diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye diseases and visual system conditions. Her recent interests have focused on correcting vision for patients of all ages with complicated ocular surfaces, including those with keratoconus, aphakia, neurotrophic keratitis, and irregular corneal surfaces after refractive surgeries such as radial keratotomy (RK) and LASIK. She holds a Texas Optometric Glaucoma Specialist license and is certified in corneal reshaping therapy (CRT), as well as the fitting of soft, rigid gas permeable and scleral contact lenses. Dr. Ebrahimi is excited to expand the myopia management program at Houston Eye Associates, providing young patients with contact lenses to help slow the progression of their myopia.
