Kai Chu, M.D. was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and grew up in Houston, Texas where she attended Jersey Village High School. She graduated from Rice University with a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies. She then attended Baylor College of Medicine where she received her medical degree. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch and her fellowship in glaucoma at the Columbia University Harkness Eye Institute in New York, New York. Dr. Chu has presented her research at various national ophthalmology meetings and has published several articles in medical journals including the American Journal of Ophthalmology and the Journal of Glaucoma.
Dr. Chu is excited to be practicing in her hometown at Houston Eye Associates. Dr. Chu is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of several professional organizations, such as the American Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Texas Ophthalmologic Association, and the Harris County Medical Society. Dr. Chu specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology, cataracts, and glaucoma and is fluent in both English and Mandarin.
In her spare time, Dr. Chu enjoys spending time and traveling with her husband and family. She stays active by playing tennis, practicing yoga, snowboarding, and scuba diving.
