Dr. Michaela Anukwuem received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in 2018. She was involved in many organizations and community service vision screenings during her educational career. Dr. Anukwuem served as the President of the National Optometric Student Association, which is an organization that brings awareness to advancing visual health in minority populations. Before attending optometry school, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a minor in Business Administration at Texas A&M University in 2011.
Dr. Anukwuem completed her externship rotations at Sharp Eye Consultants, KDW Eye Consultants, and Parkhurst Nuvision Laser Surgery Center. She gained extensive clinical experience managing various ocular conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and anterior segment disease.
Dr. Michaela Anukwuem is a board-licensed therapeutic optometrist and skilled optometric glaucoma specialist. She practices full-scope optometry, including dry eyes, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, pre/post-operative care of cataract surgery, contact lenses, and primary eye care. She prides herself on being a listening ear to her patients and allowing them to be involved in their ocular health plan.
Dr. Anukwuem is a native Houstonian from the Spring area. She enjoys spending her free time working out, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
