Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is damage to the blood vessels of the eye’s retina that occurs with complications of long-term diabetes and can eventually lead to blindness. The retina is the light-sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the inner eye that changes light energy into signals that are carried to the brain by the optic nerve.
